Paola Sarappa è una fotografa documentarista nata a Bari nel 1981.
Laureata in Belle Arti, si è specializzata in fotografia e giornalismo tra Roma e Londra, dove ha conseguito un MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography al London College of Communication.
La sua ricerca è guidata dalla passione per l’antropologia e si concentra sulle culture e sottoculture del mondo.
Attraverso la fotografia esplora storie marginali, costruendo un dialogo empatico tra la propria identità e quella degli “altri”.
L’ascolto e la cura del soggetto umano sono il cuore della sua poetica, che sfida stereotipi e restituisce dignità a chi è reso invisibile.
Lavora come fotografa e giornalista freelance e vive a Bari.

Tecnica mista su tela – 50 × 50 cm – 2024
Questa è Sila Hoso. Sette anni. Palestinese. Cranio fratturato, retina lacerata, vista compromessa.
È sopravvissuta a un bombardamento israeliano su una scuola-rifugio a Deir al-Balah.
Il titolo dell’opera riprende le parole usate per giustificare l’ingiustificabile: “Vi avevamo detto di andarvene!”.
Una frase che diventa minaccia, rivolta a chi non ha vie di fuga.
Il volto di Sila, dipinto a olio, è attraversato da punte metalliche inserite nella tela tagliata: ferite reali sulla materia dell’arte, come le bombe sui corpi.
Un’opera che è denuncia e tributo, atto di resistenza visiva contro l’indifferenza.
Guardare Sila è scegliere da che parte stare.

Paola Sarappa is a documentary photographer born in Bari, Italy, in 1981.
She holds a Fine Arts degree and an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication.
Her work is driven by anthropological interest and focuses on cultures and subcultures around the world.
She documents marginal stories with a human-centered approach, where listening and care are key.
Her visual narratives aim to break stereotypes and restore dignity to the invisible.
She works as a freelance photographer and journalist and lives in Bari.

This is Sila Hoso. Seven years old. Palestinian. Skull fractured, retina torn, vision impaired.
She survived an Israeli bombing on the Khadija school in Deir al-Balah — a place of refuge turned into a target.
The title echoes a phrase used to justify the unjustifiable: “We told you to leave!”.
But where can you flee in a land besieged from every side?
Sila’s portrait, painted in oil and pierced by metallic spikes driven into the canvas, becomes a wounded body, a battlefield.
This work is a cry for justice, a tribute to resilience, and a refusal of indifference.
To look at Sila is to take a stand.

باولا سارابا، مصورة وثائقية من مواليد باري – إيطاليا عام 1981.
حاصلة على شهادة في الفنون الجميلة، وتخصصت في التصوير الصحفي بين روما ولندن، حيث نالت ماجستير في التصوير الوثائقي من كلية لندن للتواصل.
يتركّز عملها حول الثقافات والهويات المهمّشة، وتدمج بين التصوير والأنثروبولوجيا، في نهج إنساني يعيد الكرامة للمقصيين عن السرد العام.
تعمل كمصورة وصحفية مستقلة وتعيش حاليًا في باري.

هذه سِلا حُصو، سبع سنوات، فلسطينية.
نجت من قصف إسرائيلي استهدف مدرسة خديجة في دير البلح، كانت ملجأً وتحولت إلى هدف.
عنوان العمل يردّد العبارة التي تُستخدم لتبرير القتل: “قلنا لكم أن ترحلوا!” — لكن إلى أين؟
وجه سلا، مرسوم بالألوان الزيتية، مخترق بشظايا معدنية مغروسة في القماش الممزق.
العمل لوحة تنزف، ترفض الصمت، وتدين الصمت العالمي تجاه الأطفال ضحايا الحروب.

保拉·萨拉帕，1981年出生于意大利巴里，是一位纪实摄影师。
她拥有美术学位，并于伦敦传播学院获得纪实摄影硕士学位。
她的创作围绕全球边缘文化与群体，融合摄影与人类学，以倾听与关怀为核心，赋予被忽视者以尊严。
她是一名自由摄影师与记者，现居巴里。
