Biografia (IT)

Thelo EF è un artista autodidatta inglese, da sempre affascinato dall’arte, che solo recentemente ha cominciato a dedicarsi con intensità alla pittura.

Nato nel sud dell’Inghilterra, si è trasferito a Bari nel 2016 per insegnare inglese. Dopo un periodo trascorso anche a Bologna e un ritorno temporaneo nel Regno Unito, oggi vive nuovamente a Bari insieme a sua moglie Paola.

Ama la natura, il mare e la vita nel Sud Italia, e trova nella pittura un modo per interrogare e restituire la complessità del presente .

Due dipinti acrilici su tela – 50 × 40 cm ciascuno – 2025

Quest’opera nasce dall’osservazione di due fotografie che documentano la devastazione della città di Rafah (Gaza), a seguito dei bombardamenti israeliani.

Thelo EF non riproduce le immagini in modo realistico, ma le reinterpreta per evidenziare il contrasto tra ciò che era – una città viva, moderna – e ciò che rimane: rovina, assenza, silenzio.

Le tele raccontano una perdita che non è solo materiale, ma umana, urbana, collettiva.

Attraverso colori acrilici e gesti pittorici intensi, l’artista invita a riflettere sulla fragilità dell’identità e sul trauma della distruzione .

Biography

Thelo EF is a self-taught British artist, recently dedicating more time to painting after years of personal fascination with visual art.

Born in Southern England, he moved to Bari in 2016 to teach English.

After a brief stay in Bologna and a return to the UK, he is now back in Bari with his wife Paola.

He draws inspiration from nature, southern Italian life, and the sea — exploring them through a growing visual practice.

Two acrylic paintings on canvas – 50 × 40 cm each – 2025

This work was inspired by two photographs of Rafah (Gaza), taken after Israeli bombings.

The artist doesn’t reproduce the photos directly, but instead reinterprets the stark emotional contrast between a once-lively city and its current post-war desolation.

It’s not just the loss of buildings, but the erasure of urban vitality and collective humanity.

The expressive brushstrokes reflect pain, resilience, and the silent violence of disappearance.

ثيلو EF هو فنان بريطاني عصامي، بدأ مؤخرًا بتكريس المزيد من وقته للرسم، بعد شغف طويل بالفن.

ولد في جنوب إنجلترا، وانتقل إلى مدينة باري الإيطالية عام 2016 لتعليم اللغة الإنجليزية.

بعد فترة في بولونيا وعودة قصيرة إلى إنجلترا، استقر مجددًا في باري مع زوجته باولا.

يستلهم أعماله من الطبيعة والحياة الجنوبية والبحر.

العمل مستوحى من صورتين لمدينة رفح (غزة) بعد القصف الإسرائيلي.

لا يعيد الفنان رسم الصور حرفيًا، بل يعيد تخيّلها لتجسيد التناقض بين الحياة السابقة والخراب الحالي.

هو تأمل في زوال المدن والهوية، وفي العنف الذي يمحو المجتمعات.

الريشة هنا وسيلة مقاومة وذكرى.

Thelo EF 是一位英国自学艺术家，近年来开始专注于绘画创作。

出生于英格兰南部，2016年移居意大利巴里教授英语。

曾短暂旅居博洛尼亚与英国，现与妻子Paola定居巴里。

他热爱自然、南意生活与海洋，这些体验转化为视觉艺术的灵感源泉。

作品灵感源自两张关于加沙拉法市（Rafah）被轰炸后的照片。

每一笔，都是对脆弱人性的沉思与哀悼。
